Victorian Silver Niello Locket with Vermeil Interior, Antique French XIX Century Locket dangle_earrings It makes a lovely chokerThis breathtaking silver niello locket is adored with a beautiful flowing leaf pattern and a lovely interior vermeil gold wash. Niello is a technique in which a material, often silver, is engraved and filled with a mixture of sulphur, copper, silver, and lead. After being fired in a kiln the niello mixture melts and fills in the crevices, leaving a lovely matte design. This particular locket is in good age related condition but wears signs of its age.
