As the pine tree is the symbol of immortality, the cones are regarded as symbols of fertility. The shell, from which the pattern for this door knocker was made, was caught in Southern New England waters by a local shell fisherman in a wooden trap. Materials This door knocker is sand cast in yellow brass, and has been dipped in lacquer to preserve the finish. The lacquer can be
