Officials and farmers said harvests and the quality of the crop declined because Zimbabwe set a new tobacco production record with more than 300 million kg of leaf tobacco worth over 1 billion U.S. dollars sold since the start of the marketing season back in March. Zimbabwe is the largest grower of tobacco in Africa and the 4th largest grower in the world. In 2024, Zimbabwe's Tobacco Products market is projected to generate a revenue of US$114.8m.
