This piece is meant to be placed over fire or coals and is used to mark wood, leather, fabrics, and most famously Japanese sweets such as manju. It has a round shape with a decorative border, hot spring symbol, and kanji (kousen senbei ). It means "mineral spring rice cracker", a special type of rice cracker senbei made with carbonated water from hot springs. They
