3.1.1 Clinical studies A recently published meta-analysis of 12 studies on the adherence to the Mediterranean diet and the incidence of PD indicated that the highest adherence to the Mediterranean diet showed a significant negative correlation with the incidence of PD, with an overall OR of 0.75 (95% CI: 0.66, 0.84) and an even more accentuated effect on the prodromal phase of the disease with an OR of 0.67 (95%CI: 0.59, 0.76) (Zhao et al., 2025)
