Her story relates to the flowers which bloom on the running vine of the Pencil Yam after rain has fallen. The flowers signal that the bush yam (potato) will start growing underneath the ground. The yams are collected by the women and cooked in hot coals. They are an important food source for the Anmatyerre people of Central Australia.
